Christopher Raeburn is a young British fashion designer known for creating ethically-aware men’s and womenswear collections that are original in design. Utilising re-appropriated military fabrics, Christopher Raeburn creates garments that are functional, intelligent and meticulously crafted.
A graduate from London’s prestigious Royal College of Art in 2006, Raeburn is fast becoming known for his pioneering work towards the future of ethical design. Launching in 2008, Raeburn’s work was handpicked for ‘Camouflage’, an exhibition at the Imperial War Museum in London; he then showcased a capsule collection of reversible garments, titled ‘Inverted’ at London Design Week 08 and featured in Hywel Davies’ publication, “100 New Designers”.

2009 saw Raeburn produce a menswear collaboration with established British designer Tim Soar, which was shown at Paris Men’s Fashion Week. Winning the International Ethical Fashion Forum’s Innovation competition secured a place at London Fashion Week A/W 09 – leading to womenswear orders from Browns Focus and a high profile collaboration with upcycling company Worn Again, producing capsule collections incorporating Virgin and Eurostar fabrics.
In July, Raeburn was named winner of the “Emerging Fashion Designer” category of the “100” competition by The Independent newspaper and The Hospital Club. An invitation to show at Liberty Open Designer Day resulted in menswear orders from Liberty, plus a month long Christopher Raeburn installation in their menswear department in September. Raeburn’s Spring/Summer Collection “Digital Rainbow” – shown at London Fashion Week in September - secured further orders from Isetan (Japan), Takishimaya (New York) and Browns Focus.

During Autumn 2009 Raeburn was selected for the esteemed British Fashion Council NEWGEN sponsorship and also the Centre for Fashion Enterprise’s Venture Programme. This support sat alongside mentoring advice from industry expert Susanne Tide-Frater as part of the British Fashion Council’s Eco Mentoring Scheme. In March 2010 Raeburn presented his AW10 collection entitled “Prepare+Protect” in London, Paris, Tokyo and New York, leading to orders from domestic orders from Browns Focus, Liberty and Harvey Nichols and international orders from Barneys, 10 Corso Como, Penelope, Gago, United Arrows, Beams and Isetan.

Raeburn is now preparing for SS11 and will be showing for the first time at Paris Menswear. Summer 2010 will also see Raeburn building installations, working on collaborations and presenting his new womenswear collection in London and Paris in the Autumn.
Christopher Raeburn’s collections are highlighted for their intelligent design, high quality and extreme attention to detail. Staunchly British, all Raeburn garments are proudly ‘Remade in England’ and produced in East London.
